“It’s hurting.” I told the nurse and physical therapist. It’s been a week and half since the accident, and they were tryna help me stand.

I fractured my pelvis and the doctor said since it wasn’t a bad one, I needed to try and stand with crutches. You can’t cast a pelvis, and it has to basically heal on its own. He didn’t want me to put weight on my body, but he also didn’t want me lying in bed all day either.

I’m not sure what he expected with a broken leg too. I mean it was only from the knee down, but it’s still broken. The pain is unbearable at times, yet I’m determined to fight through it and walk again.

The doctor specifically informed the insurance company I had to stay for at least six weeks, and they didn’t have an issue with it. I’m actually at a rehabilitation place getting all the help I need. It’s a very nice spot too.

I hadn’t seen nor heard from Cazi and shockingly I’m ok. I was preparing myself for the annulment papers anyway now. I removed the wedding ring from my finger and had my mother go retrieve as much as she could from his house while he was at work.

I asked her not to take too much because he’ll notice, and I don’t want or need anything he purchased. I really only asked for personal papers, my laptop, and anything else she’d think I’d considered important.

“You only have to stand on your good leg for a minute or two.” The therapist told me. I blew my breath and stood. Whether the doctor considered it a bad fracture or not, the shit still hurt like hell.

“Look at you.” Yariah walked in smiling. I really loved her. She’s been by my side since I woke up.

“I’m trying.”

“You’ll be walking soon.” She put her purse on the chair and walked over to me.

“I hope so because I’m tired of laying in the bed.” They all laughed and after a few minutes of standing, I asked to get back in the bed. The therapist and nurse assisted while Riah put the covers over my legs. It was chilly as hell in here even with the slipper socks.

“You’re gonna be outta here before you know it.” She sat in the bed next to me.

“I hope so. What’s going on? I thought you weren’t coming until tomorrow.” I picked my cell up and checked my emails.

“I go to court in a couple of weeks to be arraigned or have my charges read to me. I was supposed to go a few days ago but the judge had an emergency and postponed it.”

“Ok. I know you’re not worried.” I put my phone down.

“What if the judge believes her story? I don’t wanna go to jail.” She rested her head on my shoulder.

“Girl, you are not going to jail.” I wiped her eyes.

“But…”

“But nothing. Your brother or Caleek won’t allow it.” She sat up and looked at me.

“Why did you do it?” I knew she was referencing the abortion because we haven’t spoken of it.
